Our Commitment to the SDGs

Our Commitment to the SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals)

The SDGs, or Sustainable Development Goals, are a set of international objectives aimed at creating a more sustainable and better society. They were adopted at the UN Summit in September 2015. The SDGs consist of 17 goals and 169 targets, with the aim of achieving these by the year 2030.

Journey to Tomorrow

Doing What’s Right, Not Just What’s Necessary, for Society

"Journey to Tomorrow" - IHG® Hotels & Resorts is committed to initiatives that benefit people, communities, and the planet.
As part of the "Journey to Tomorrow" program, all IHG® hotels will remove small bathroom amenities and replace them with bulk-sized, pump-bottle amenities. This marks a transformative step towards minimizing waste in the hospitality industry, and IHG® is the first global hotel company to implement this initiative.

Our Initiatives to Reduce Energy Consumption

Since 2009, IHG Green Engage has been implemented across our global group of hotels.

This online system supports environmentally conscious hotel operations by tracking each hotel's energy and water consumption, carbon emissions, and waste management practices. It plays a key role in reducing energy consumption. Another notable feature of this system is the "Green Solutions," which offers over 200 specific actions to help hotels reduce their environmental impact.

LED Lighting Conversion

We have replaced all lighting within our facilities with LED lights to reduce heat generation, which helps lower the energy consumption of air conditioning systems.

Transition to Pump Bottles for Bathroom Amenities

In all guest rooms, we have replaced mini-bottle amenities (shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, and body lotion) with refillable pump bottles to reduce plastic waste.

Linen Reuse Program

For guests staying multiple nights, we encourage the reuse of towels and bed linens. Linens will only be replaced upon request, which helps reduce wastewater from laundry processes.

Eco-friendly Room Amenities and Packaging

At all InterContinental Hotels worldwide, we have implemented eco-friendly materials for in-room amenities, such as combs, toothbrushes, shower caps, and razors, as well as for their packaging.

Introduction of Digital Signage

To promote paperless operations, we have digitized our in-house information displays, reducing paper waste and contributing to a more environmentally friendly hotel experience.

Upgrade of Dishwashers

We have installed high-efficiency dishwashers, resulting in a water savings of approximately 52%, or about 127 tons annually (as calculated by the manufacturer).
